How green are you?

I think that environmentally friendly practices are very important because are scarce natural resources in the planet and for that reason, this theme is urgent in society. According this importance, is necessary that  people learn about environmentally practices in all places of his life: in his family, at school, with is friends, in job, etc.
For me, is important  be a person that care for nature and I try to incorporate this practice in my life. For example, I go to supermarket with my own bags for not use a lot of plastic bags, I have a compost in my house and with that, my family use organic garbage to make leaves grounds. Also I disconnected the power chargers for not use extra electric energy.
However, I don`t use a bike or my legs for transport me because the distances that I go around are very big. But I don`t use a car neither because I prefer to use a public transport of city; it`s cheaper and cleaner than a car.
I don`t participate in an eco-organizations because I have a little time in my life. Actually, my student responsibilities consume all my time. Also, in a lot of eco-organizations the most important way to help is across of money donations and I don`t have money for that item.
I would like teach to some persons about the environmentally friendly practices: maybe I could to do a conference about it or some like this. I think that I must recycle in more ways too.
I think that I reduce my carbon footprint not using a personal car or with my others practice mentioned above.
I think that Santiago is a not  green city because is a place full of people and cars. For that reason, there are a lot of pollution. A way to solve pollution problem in city is create more bicycle line because that mean less pollution in the street. Santiago is a city that is built around the car.

The Guardian: Arab Revolution

Hi! Today I´m gonna talk about a piece of news connected to my area of studies: sociology. For this reason I pick up an newspaper article of The Guardian, entitled “The Arab spring: one year on”. This is about the way in which Ahdaf Soueif  write the book “Cairo my city, our revolution”. According the news, the author had order to write a book about Cairo but she couldn´t write it. But in February 2011, in the midle of Arab Revolution, his publisher said “this was the moment to write”. Ahdaf didn`t like this advice because at that moment she wanted to participate in revolution, instead write about it. However, she started to write about the Arab Revolution “told (his) own chosen order, but it is very much the story of our revolution”. She tried to write and ´make revolution` at the same time, which is difficult to do.
Ahdaf “needed to take in as much of the present as possible” but it was changing always. Finally, she said that revolution is a process and Egyptian revolution continues despite the difficulty.
Below, the article talk about events that ocurred in Arab Revolution. This events was witnessed by Ahdaf and she described it in detail.

Music

Music is natural in human being; I believe that music is in chilhood and all people. So, I think that music is very important to world because is a primitive way for expression: Only you need your body and something that sounds.
I like a wide range of music styles. For example, I like electronic music, pop, indie, folklore, trova, post rock, grunge, some of hip hop, etc. In that sense, I have eclectic tastes in music and I love this situation because I find new groups and sounds always.
Some of music that I listen are The Beatles, The Doors, Belle and Sebastian, Björk, Radiohead, Violeta Parra, Los Tres, Camila Moreno, Evelyn Cornejo, Calle 13, Anita Tijoux, Inti Illimani, Los Jaivas, Artic Monkeys, John Lenon, The Who, Bob Marley, Jeff Buckley, Cream, Astro, Crystal Castles, Crystal Fighters, M83, Led Zepellin, Pink Floyd, etc. and etc.
All this groups are great for me and makes me feel diferent things. However, I can`t choose a favorite group or singer because I don`t like to listen one stile or one gruop every time. So, I change the music of my pendrive always because I don`t like that my music boring me.
When I listen music, I feel a lot of things and for this reason, I think that music is essential in my life because I enjoy it a lot.
In general, I listen music in bus or when I stay in my house (for example, I like listen music when I cook) but in my opinion, the concert is the part more exciting of music; I went to "El abrazo" last year and it was great because I shared with my friends, I can saw a lot of good artists there and I felt to people in syntony with music.
So, the music is very important for me and I think that it´s important for all people because is a way of expressing life, feelings ,ideas, criticism, etc.
Could you imagine a world without music?

happiness

For me happiness is a life way, is the predisposition to be happy. And according with that, I don´t hope that happiness come to me because I have to get it. So, I be happy when good things happen to me and when I want to be happy too.
For example, the things that makes me happy are: stay with my family and my friends, when I write or take pictures, see art in exhibitions, watch a movie and listen music.  Also I attend the late afternoon because I like the colors in this hours. All this things are very simple but for me are specials.
I think that in this society is difficult for people to be happy because they believe that the material things give happiness. When they can´t  get this things, the happiness become in unhappiness.
Chile is a complex country in the happiness theme because the parties are a kind of catharsis but daily, the people are very sad, stress and angry. Really, I don´t know how to describe Chile in this topic, it´s very ambivalent. However, the people struggle for their happiness and that is undenaible.
